Universitas Khairun Chemistry Education Lecturer Attends FKJKI National Meeting and HKI Congress 2026

The Chemistry Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Khairun, participated in the 2026 National Meeting of the Indonesian Forum of Heads of Chemistry Departments (FKJKI) and the 2026 Congress of the Indonesian Chemical Society (HKI), held in a hybrid format on September 8, 2026, at Nusa Cendana University (Undana), Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.

The national-scale event served as a forum for universities, academics, educators, researchers, and chemistry practitioners to exchange information and discuss strategic issues related to the development of chemistry education and the chemistry discipline in Indonesia. The meeting also provided an opportunity to strengthen academic networks and collaboration among higher education institutions to improve the quality of Chemistry and Chemistry Education study programs.

The Chemistry Education Study Program of FKIP Universitas Khairun was represented by Dr. Ir. Muliadi, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Laboratory and lecturer in the Chemistry Education Study Program. His participation represented the active involvement of faculty members in national-level academic forums and professional chemistry organizations.

One of the key topics discussed at the national meeting was the improvement of the quality of Chemistry and Chemistry Education study programs, including efforts to encourage study programs to achieve excellent accreditation through the Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA), as well as progress toward international accreditation through organizations such as ASIIN and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The forum also highlighted the importance of ensuring that graduates’ competencies in chemistry remain relevant to developments in science and technology, the world of work, and the needs of global industries.

The national meeting was attended by various stakeholders in chemistry education and the chemical sciences, including representatives from government ministries, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), accreditation agencies, and the national leadership of professional chemistry organizations. A total of 65 Heads of Chemistry and Chemistry Education Study Programs from various public and private universities across Indonesia participated in the forum.

The participation of a lecturer from the Chemistry Education Study Program of Universitas Khairun in the FKJKI and HKI national forum further strengthens the study program’s commitment to keeping pace with developments in the discipline, quality standards, and the evolving needs of chemistry education. The knowledge and professional networks gained from the event are expected to contribute to improving the quality of education, strengthening laboratory functions, and supporting the sustainable development of the Chemistry Education Study Program at Universitas Khairun.
